Will insurance cover the cost of my wig?

Some health insurance providers may cover all or part of the cost of your chemotherapy / alopecia universalis wig. You can contact your provider and ask if they cover this cost. If you have already been assigned a case worker, ask to speak directly with that individual.  You can also check the coverage section on your provider's web site to see if your policy covers the cost of hair loss from chemotherapy.  Use the term “hair prosthesis” if nothing comes up under “wig”.

On the Link below, you will find tips and documents/forms that may help you get insurance reimbursement if it's offered through your provider. These include an insurance letter and prescription form that your oncologist’s office can easily copy onto their letterhead and give to you to submit to your provider.
